How borrowing works
Four simple steps, all free of charge. If any part of this is difficult, call us on 808-532-7110 or email jen@atrc.org and we will assist you.
Register
Create a free account and tell us what kind of help you are looking for. You can register yourself, or a family member, carer or therapist can do it with you.
We approve
Our team reviews your registration within one business day. We may call to check which equipment suits you best. There is no eligibility fee and no credit check.
Pick up or delivery
Collect the item from our Honolulu office, or ask for free delivery anywhere on Oʻahu. Neighbour-island loans travel by inter-island freight at no cost to you.
Return when done
Loans run for four weeks. Return it in person, or book a free pick-up. Need it longer? Ask for an extension before the due date and we will usually say yes.
Common questions
- Does borrowing cost anything?
- No. Every loan is free, including delivery anywhere in Hawaii. We never ask for payment or card details.
- What if the equipment does not suit me?
- Bring it back early and we will help you try something else. Trying before buying is the whole point of the library.
- Can I get help setting it up?
- Yes. Every loan includes a one-to-one setup session by phone, video call or in person, in English, ʻŌlelo Hawaiʻi, Ilocano, Tagalog or Japanese.
- What happens if something breaks?
- Tell us and we will repair or replace it. Normal wear and accidental damage are expected, and you are not charged for them.
